“Can’t Steal the Music” is AURA’s contemporary English album, where she presents an intoxicating kaleidoscope of styles and production methods. The 16 new songs are all very personal pieces that she composed on the piano and acoustic guitar.
“You know it’s a good song when it’s easy to play on the guitar. After all, my roots lie in folk music.. I wrote different songs for different moods — from the poetic ballad “Unloved”, to the upbeat dance track “Love Somebody”. In that sense my new album is a complete image of me as a person – it mirrors my life. That explains why there are so many different melodies, beats and moods.”
AURA is Denmark’s most successful contemporary pop artist. On her new album AURA establishes her musical talent as lead producer charting new territory with her music, voice and lyrics.
“The songs on my new album are about finding your roots again — nobody can take that away from you. I had almost completely lost myself after an extremely painful break-up. My new songs helped to free my mind and rekindle my passion and the fire inside of me. The music is raw, angry, hopeful and beautiful all in one, yet at the same time fragile. It tells the story of my life.”
Auras immediate recognizable, powerful voice sends shivers down your spine, as well as her imaginative and playful mixture of electronic and organic instruments with which the Danish artist performed her breakthrough megahit “I Will Love You Monday” in 2009, gaining her a fan community throughout Europe. After this chart-topping single, Aura managed to consolidate her success with her follow-up no. 1 hit “Geronimo” from her second album “Before the Dinosaurs”. With “Can’t Steal The Music” the Copenhagen-born artist has now opened the next chapter in her creative work.
The album title should be taken literally: In the end, what remains is what we created for ourselves. AURA’s music embodies her life story, which no one can take away from her.
